X community adds a context note to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) post: The X account for Rep. Tony Gonzales posted "Every single day our country loses an average of seventeen veterans to suicide. Brandon Herrera thinks this is a joke. #TX23 is home to tens of thousands of veterans and Active Duty servicemembers. They deserve better than Brandon Herrera." The post included a 30 second Gonzales political ad pushing this narrative. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. This is inherently missing context the person mentioned above Brandon Herara was on a podcast in February 10th Brandon before saying what is mentioned in the ad says it is a joke before saying what he did mentioned [sic] Source and video mentioned x.com/daltonsuttonio…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
