Twitter censors user for tweet calling out UK transgender affirming support group: A Twitter user shared a screenshot of another user's censorship notice. The censored user was responding to a tweet by Mermaids, a UK transgender support group. That tweet read "Due to intolerable abuse, we have made the decision to close the helpline and webchat services for the rest of today and tomorrow. Next week, to enable us to take all volunteers off the rota, we will reduce hours to 9am to 6pm only." The user responded in a tweet, saying "Intolerable abuse? You brought this on yourselves. You took on a paedophile apologist as a trustee of your CHILDREN'S charity. You encouraged girls to damage their breasts. You promoted off-label experimental drugs on vulnerable kids who were often gay or autistic. *That's* abuse." Twitter claimed her tweet violated its "rules against hateful conduct." The user's account was locked until she deleted the tweet. Her account was then restricted to read-only mode for one week as a result of the censorship.
