X community adds a context note to Stew Peters's post: Conspiracy theorist Stew Peters posted a screenshot of a purported study headline reading "At the height of American slavery, 78% of slave owners were ethnic jews. 40% of the jewish population were slave owners, while only 0.35% of white Americans owned slaves." The screenshot included several alleged sources that are unable to be checked easily. Peters added "Fascinating" to the post. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. There is no article with the Above statement: google.com/search?q=at+th… The source of the claim comes from antisemitic flyers posted in the university of Tennessee: m.jpost.com/diaspora/antis…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
