Twitter community adds a context note to Tommy Tuberville tweet: Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) tweeted, “Broadband is vital for the success of our rural communities and for our entire economy. Great to see Alabama receive crucial funds to boost ongoing broadband efforts.” This was accompanied by a link to an article explaining the federal funding that Alabama will receive. Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Important context to know here: while Sen Tuberville is celebrating this grant now, he voted against it when it came up in the Senate, and never expressed support for it, until now." A link was included to the official vote results for a 2021 vote on H.R. 3684 to support the note. The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system.
