YouTube deletes videos of Senate hearing testimony on COVID-19 treatments from Sen. Ron Johnson's account: Two videos of doctors discussing the effectiveness of certain treatments for COVID-19 uploaded to YouTube by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) have been taken down. "Social media censorship just ratcheted up to a new level. Google’s YouTube removed two videos of doctors testifying under oath at my US Senate hearing on early treatment of COVID," tweeted Johnson, who also attached screenshots of the notice of removal he received from YouTube. "Another body blow to freedom of speech and expression. Very sad and scary. Where does this end?" The video contained doctors discussing the effectiveness of treatments like Ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication used to treat scabies and other parasitic infections, for COVID-19. In a message sent to managers of Sen. Johnson’s channel, YouTube said the videos of the hearing violated its policies on COVID-19, according to Breitbart. “YouTube doesn’t allow claims that contradicts local health authorities medical information about COVID-19, to include guidance on treatment, prevention or transmission guidance,” said the Google-owned platform. "Bottom line, it’s an example of big tech singling out conservative voices to silence them," said Johnson's communications director, who pointed out that videos of the same Senate testimony were still up on YouTube accounts of mainstream media publications. "For proof, the same testimony is still up on Bloomberg News’ youtube page."
