Twitter suspends an alleged neuroscientist for his comments on gender: Twitter suspended the account of Sam Stagg who, according to his Twitter profile, earned his "BSc Psychology and MSc Molecular Neuroscience" and researches "sex differences, neuroendocrinology, genetics, and circadian rhythms." Users who visit Stagg's profile page are met with the message "Account suspended[,] Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules." Another user, Emily Hilton, posted screenshots of Stagg's suspension notice. The screenshots show that he tweeted "If you ever wanted to know why sexuality needs to be confounded for studies in transgender individuals then this study perfectly illustrates this: [link]." According to the screenshots, Twitter removed the tweet and claimed that it "violate[ed] [its] rules against hateful conduct," which cites that users cannot "promote violence against, threaten or harass other people on the basis of... sexual orientation, gender, gender identity." It is unclear whether the suspension was intended to be permanent or whether the user appealed.
