Microsoft's Blizzard suspends user from Overwatch 2 game for using nickname: Activision Blizzard, a subsidiary of Microsoft, punished a user for using one of the most common words among gamers for decades, "noob." According to reporting at Reclaim The Net, a Game Master suspended the user's account permanently "for inappropriate communications in-game." The moderator noted that "[t]his account has received multiple penalties for this type of behavior and thus multiple opportunities to correct that behavior." The moderator thus confirmed that the user's account was under a "permanent suspension", and "that the suspension was issued correctly and will be upheld." The moderator noted that the offensive language included: "'noob' '?' 'worth'." The moderator implored the user to "[p]lease consider the other players, we want all the users to be able to have a great experience and enjoy our games." After word of this suspension cause a backlash from gamers who have been using the "noob" label for decades, the Overwatch X account issued a statement that read "our bad. ban reversed. you can say noob now."
