Roger Pielke Jr

Facebook removes links to Substack post about the climate: Roger Pielke, Jr. runs a Substack called The Honest Broker, which he claims "highlight[s] data, analyses and commentary missing from public discussions of science, policy and politics." He recently ran a post about problems related to climate modeling. When other users attempted to share this post on their Facebook pages, Facebook reportedly immediately deleted the links, citing its spam policy. For example, on June 10, 2024 a user named Steve Hayward attempted to share the post in a message that read "I keep seeing that Roger Pielke Jr's Substack is being stricken from Facebook for 'violating standards.' Let's find out." He included a link to the Substack post. He received a message from Facebook indicating that it had removed his post. This message stated that "[i]t looks like you tried to get likes, follows, shares or video views in a misleading way." It further noted that "Your post goes against our Community Standards on spam." It is unclear why this particular link was labeled as spam. At the time of this entry, Facebook was allowing users to post the link unhindered.
