Congressman Roger Marshall M.D. (R-KS), a licensed physician, was censored for discussing CDC information about COVID-19.

“A Facebook post published on Sunday afternoon by U.S. Congressman Roger Marshall, M.D. discussing updated COVID-19 death data released by the CDC was removed Monday night by Facebook without notice or explanation,” KNSS reported September 1.  Marshall explained later on Facebook that his earlier post had “discussed the new data published by the CDC showing that only 6% of deaths were due solely to COVID-19, while the remaining 94% of deaths had two or more underlying health conditions.”

His post had made a noteworthy impact before it was struck down. Marshall claimed that “Before being deleted by Facebook, the post had garnered nearly 80,000 views and was shared by thousands of followers.”

Marshall later declared that “Social media companies should not be allowed to censor science that they disagree with,” declaring such behavior to be nothing less than “corporate censorship, pure and simple.”

He further commented on how Big Tech has been deliberately silencing a much needed conversation at a time when fresh ideas and critical information needs to be heard:

“As a physician, I believe in discussing all data, options, and research with my patients. This was data published by the CDC, but unfortunately did not fit the narrative that the left and the liberal media want us to believe. We cannot allow social media companies to determine what we do and not learn about this virus. Americans deserve to be informed.”

When reached for comment, a Facebook spokesperson explained: “We’ve removed this post for violating our policies against spreading harmful misinformation about COVID-19 since it misstates CDC data about the deadliness of the disease.”

Facebook has taken a hard stance on fighting “harmful misinformation” regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, in doing so, Facebook, like other Big Tech companies, set up sources like the hapless World Health Organization to be the gold standard of truth about the COVID-19 virus and its prevention. This choice has proven to be extremely problematic since the pandemic began. As late as January 14, WHO claimed in a tweet:

“Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China.”
