Twitter community adds a context note to Joe Biden tweet: The official Twitter account for the president tweeted, “The share of working-age Americans in the workforce is as high as it’s been in 20 years, and higher than every single day my predecessor was president." Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "This claim is based on a selected subset (age 25-54) rather than the BLS standard definition of “working age” as being 16+. Age 25-54 subset data: data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS…, factcheck.org/2023/06/factch… BLS working age definition: bls.gov/bls/demographi… The standard (age 16+) metrics shows that we remain lower than before COVID in 2020: bls.gov/charts/employm…" The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system.
