Twitter community adds a context note to President Joe Biden's tweet: @POTUS, the official account of President Joe Biden, tweeted, “I cut the deficit by 1.7 trillion dollars in two years – that's more than any president on record.” Twitter added a Community Note warning label to the post with a header that reads: “Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The label continues, “The Washington Post rated this claim "highly misleading" and other fact-checkers have disputed its accuracy. The $1.7T spending reduction claimed by Biden was the result of pandemic emergency spending that automatically expired, versus action taken by the president.” The added context additionally includes links to stories from The Washington Post, FactCheck.og, and PolitiFact.
