Twitter community adds a context note to Joe Biden tweet:  The official Twitter account for the president tweeted, “This Christmas, you'll pay less to fill up your tank and get home than you did this time last year." Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Gas in the US was $2.31 on December 21, 2020 (just prior to Biden taking office), then rose to $3.40 by Dec 2021, peaked at $5.11 in June 2022 and finally retreated back to $3.23 at the time of writing. ycharts.com/indicators/us_… Prices are influenced by many factors, domestic and international. api.org/oil-and-natura…." The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
