X community adds a context note to MI state representative post: Michigan state representative Matt Maddock posted allegations that illegal immigratns were being bussed from a Detroit airport with a police escort. This X post received a Community Note pointing out that it was actually an NCAA men's basketball team arriving for a game. The next day, Maddock added a response to his initial post, saying "We know this is happening. 100,000’s of illegals are pouring into our country. We know it’s happening in Michigan. Our own governor is offering money to take them in! Since we can’t trust the #FakeNews to investigate, citizens will. The process of investigating these issues takes time." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
