Twitter locks a user’s account for a week: A user tweeted, “Feb 20th. Still locked out @elonmusk I sat in twitter jail a Week after removing the tweet saying ‘trans is a mental illness’ on this account just so I could have access again.” The user also posted a screenshot, which contains the original tweet and Twitter’s response. Per the screenshot, the original tweet was a response that said, “You’re a Gender male born with a penis You will never be a woman. You will only have a mental disorder and some mutilated body parts.” Twitter instructed the user to remove the tweet, claiming it was “Violating our rules against hateful conduct. You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.” However, Twitter did not specify what part of the user’s tweet was in violation. The tweet did not promote or incite violence.
