Twitter locks account of investment firm after tweeting that masking is ineffective: Twitter restricted account features for Hold2, an investment firm and charity organization, after the firm tweeted about the ineffectiveness of masking. In a tweet directed to Nick Knudsen, executive director of DemCast, Hold2 tweeted "This is the biggest lie ever told: wear a mask = protect your neighbor. This psychological manipulation has misled so many people to believe this fallacy when all science for decades has shown community masking of healthy people does not prevent viral transmission." Twitter locked Hold2's account for 12 hours and claimed the comment violated Twitter's "policy on spreading misleading and potentially harmful information related to COVID-19." Locked accounts can typically use direct messages and browse the platform but cannot tweet, retweet, like other tweets or follow new accounts.
