Facebook demonetizes, then suspends popular Libertarian commentator Eric July: Cofounder of Being Libertarian Eric July reported on Twitter that his Facebook page was demonetized on Jan. 14. The notice said that one of his posts was removed for "Hate Speech," and as a result his page was entirely demonetized. However, Facebook did not indicate which post caused this trouble. The next day, July reported that Facebook suspended him for 7 days, saying that 5 of his previous posts "didn't follow our Community Standards." There was an indication that the latest post was removed for "harassment and bullying," but again, Facebook did not tell July which of his posts had been problematic. Three days later, July reported that Facebook "randomly" "remonetized my page and lifted my ban. They didn't admit to the mistake though." The messages he received only indicated that his page was remonetized, and that there were "No Monetization Violations" on his account any longer. Facebook did not provide any further elaboration about the issue.
