Dr. Seuss

eBay removes all listings of six banned Dr. Seuss children's books: Person-to-person e-commerce website eBay is not allowing six Dr. Seuss children's books to be sold on its platform after the company that guards the author's legacy decided to stop publishing them because of supposedly racist and insensitive imagery. “EBay is currently sweeping our marketplace to remove these items,” a spokeswoman for the company said in an email reviewed by the Wall Street Journal. "New copies of the six books were no longer for sale online at major retailers such as Barnes & Noble on Thursday afternoon, which put eBay among the most prominent platforms for the books to be sold," said the Journal. Some of the books still remain up on eBay because it reportedly takes time to take them all down, but the number is dropping day-to-day, according to the Journal. One woman told the Journal that she received an email from eBay explaining that one of the banned titles she had listed for sale had been taken down because it violated the company's “offensive material policy.” A second banned title was pulled shortly thereafter she said. Interestingly, eBay still sells Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and “The Turner Diaries,” a novel popular with neo-Nazis.
