Twitter suppresses a user’s post for sensitive content: Twitter account @RealDante12, a self-described “pro-life patriot” with a following of over 40 thousand, tweeted, “On 02.03.2023, Vanroy Evans Smith (right), screamed ‘white privilege slurs’ then runs over OC emergency room doctor Michael Mammone, and finishes him off by stabbing him to death. Democrats created this rage and hatred.” The tweet also contains a link to a Daily Mail article on the story. Twitter covered the image and the link preview with a warning label that says, “The following media includes potentially sensitive content.” Twitter’s guidelines list “excessively gory content, sexual violence, and/or assault” as examples of sensitive content. However, although the article does discuss a violent attack, it contains no graphic images or videos. The tweet remains in place but users must change their settings or hit “view” to see the thumbnail preview of the link.
