Etsy suspends seller for conservative designs: Etsy suspended graphic artist Christina Buttons for reportedly violating the platform's anti-discrimination and hate speech policy. In a screenshot of the notice shared by Buttons, Etsy claimed it "prohibits the use of our Services to discriminate against people based on the following personal attributes (collectively, 'protected groups'): race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, any other characteristic protected under applicable law." Buttons commented "I guess my art makes them feel 'unsafe.'" Her Etsy store sold items with sayings such as "truth is the new hate speech," "very problematic," "based," and "politically homeless." As of June 14, 2022, the Etsy store appears to have been restored.
