Facebook labels post of MRC article as “spam”: MRC Free Speech America contributor Catherine Salgado posted a link to her MRC Free Speech America piece “Chinese Gov’t-Tied TikTok Launches Invasive Campaign to Infect ‘Everyday Life’” on Facebook on Oct. 18. Facebook almost immediately removed the post, accusing Salgado of “tr[ying] to get likes, follows, shares or video views in a misleading way.” Facebook therefore declared, “Your post goes against our Community Standards on spam.” Facebook asserted its supposed dedication to “freedom of expression” and added, “We only remove things, or restrict people to keep the community respectful and safe.” Salgado’s post included nothing but the link to the MRC Free Speech America article.
