Axios

X community adds a context note to Axios post: Media outlet Axios posted "Don’t call it price controls: How price gouging bans really work." The post included a link to an Axios article titled "How price gouging bans really work." According to the article, "The bottom line" is that "Price gouging is not the same thing as 'price controls,' where a government sets prices for certain goods." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The same author called it 'price controls' when the UK proposed voluntary caps on grocery store profits. axios.com/2023/05/31/uk-… Axios called it 'price controls' when it was proposed to limit how much Russia could profit off oil in a time of crisis. axios.com/2022/09/06/no-…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized.
