MRC Free Speech America VP Dan Schneider pointed out that Americans aren’t tuning in for the partisan bias and radical beliefs pushed by the legacy media. That’s why people like Late Show host Stephen Colbert are getting squeezed out.
Schneider told Fox News senior correspondent Kevin Corke that print and broadcast legacy media were taking a beating for losing touch. On the Wednesday edition of Fox News Tonight, Schneider said, “If these entertainment companies are not serving the public interest, if they are not serving consumers, they are going to go out of business.”
Schneider went on to mention the many struggling legacy media companies. “The market is disciplining CBS, but it's also Disney,” he said. “We can see this in PBS and NPR. They've got so much money from the government, and that is now over. The Washington Post couldn't survive on its own, and it required Jeff Bezos to bail them out.”
On June 17, Colbert announced that CBS had cancelled his show would end after its next season.

While CBS and The Post have made cutbacks in response to the market, PBS and NPR may soon follow. On Thursday, Trump signed a rescission package stripping $1.1 billion in taxpayer dollars earmarked for biased NPR and PBS. The leftist news outlets will now have to ask donors or even the free market to support their nakedly partisan and ideologically radical content.
MRC researchers found that PBS routinely used its Juneteenth coverage to push leftist ideas on race instead of patriotism. PBS even promoted teaching radical concepts like “white privilege” and “microaggressions” to children, while putting a positive spin on the “Black Lives Matter” movement and the deeply ironic term “anti-racism.”
During the Fox News at Night segment, Schneider also addressed the state of the Democratic Party, noting that they were faring little better than their media allies. In response to a suggestion from Corke that the Democratic Party was caught between their radicals and the voters they needed to win back, Schneider said, “Look, I think they’re beyond the crossroads. I think they ran into a ditch.”
Schneider added, “The radical left has taken over that party, the socialists, the communists. So then they can't get their message straight. At the beginning of the Trump administration, they were talking about high inflation, that then declined, and high egg prices. And then complaints about immigrants, and then suddenly they discovered that's actually in Donald Trump's favor.” Schneider added that the left couldn’t put together a solid message because their radical base will not allow it.
