It’s Episode 31 of CensorTrack with TR. This week we talked about how YouTube took down two days’ worth of videos from the February 2022 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
YouTube’s About page states,”Our mission is to give everyone a voice and show them the world. We believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share and build community through our stories.”
YouTube routinely censors conservative content, however. CPAC was an easy target. The videos included panels of notable figures including former President Donald Trump, 17 former and sitting congressional members, five former U.S. ambassadors, and six former cabinet-level secretaries.
The MRC asked YouTube why it censored CPAC. A YouTube spokesperson alleged the content contained “claims that widespread fraud changed the outcome of the 2020 U.S. presidential election.” CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp pointed out that most of the censored speeches didn’t even talk about the 2020 election.
YouTube claims to “give everyone a voice,” but has no issue censoring voices it doesn’t like — including conservative voices.
