Leftist Big Tech platforms have abruptly remembered the First Amendment, as they defend the right of angry cowards to dox employees of the Trump administration.
Reddit and Bluesky are suddenly awake to the implications of censoring speech just because it is offensive or controversial, despite their track record of crushing free speech. After the biased magazine Wired exposed the identities of employees of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), leftists took to Bluesky and Reddit with pseudo death threats and other shockingly violent comments. The platforms are reportedly allowing many of these comments to stay up.
“It’s good that these left-wing social media platforms have finally rediscovered the First Amendment,” said MRC Vice President of Free Speech Dan Schneider. “Speech that others find abhorrent is precisely why there is a First Amendment protection. What these anonymous accounts also prove is that the First Amendment is for cowards too. Men living in their mothers’ basements and trolling public servants still maintain their right to express their views.”
According to screenshots shared on X, among these alleged perpetrators is Bluesky user “Andrew M_Founder,” who shared a list of names with the startling adjuration: “Hunt them down like a hungry, wild dog on meth.” Another user, “RainInLava1,” hysterically posted, “I just want someone to kill Elon.”
User “EndBillionaires FreeLuigi” allegedly wrote out a series of “HAHAs” ending with “WERE GONNA KILL YOU.” Another user, this time apparently on X, followed suit, writing: “ would be a real shame if severe physical harm came upon these young bucks.”
Meanwhile, a Reddit forum reportedly accused DOGE employees of being like Nazis, praised accused murderer Luigi Mangione, and urged, “Just go Aldo Raine on them all. Give them something they can’t take off,” a reference to the character in the movie, Inglourious Basterds.
Reddit user Fonsiloco echoed these threats, allegedly posting, “This nazi stooge needs to be shot.” Arclight posted, “They need to understand that this is now a war. And in war, there are costs for being the enemy.” Other subreddit chats demanded addresses and other private information so they could harass the DOGE employees.
Schneider addressed the blatant double standard in these platforms’ content moderation policies, saying, “So now that the left again recognizes the value of free speech, Reddit, Bluesky and others must reopen the accounts of those they have censored. Free Christopher Rufo, liberate The Babylon Bee, unshackle Libs of TikTok. It is time for Big Tech to respect America again.”
Schneider’s comments follow Reddit’s recent decision to allow its moderators to ban or otherwise censor X links as an attack on Musk. Bluesky is more obvious than Reddit in its double standards on censorship. In November, the social media platform not only touted the overwhelming amount of content it censored but actively encouraged users to report each other.
