Reddit users and moderators are censoring X links after leftists circulated a laughable conspiracy theory against X owner Elon Musk.

Speaking at the presidential parade celebrating Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, Musk, who is heading Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), used the rather common political speech gesture of putting his hand on his heart before saluting the audience. Deranged leftists immediately accused Musk of making “Nazi salute,” and not only did leftist Reddit users lose their minds, but multiple subreddit moderators began censoring X links.

The New York Times reported that “dozens” of subreddits by Jan. 21 were clamoring for a ban and boycott of X links. Since Reddit has a community-based censorship system, some moderators are already banning X links. One Formula 1 racing subreddit moderator announced that the page would now ban content from X “for a trial period.”

Subreddit r/newjersey also banned X links, announcing it with “a photo of Mr. Musk emblazoned with a red block symbol,” The Times wrote. Meanwhile, the feminist subreddit TwoXChromosomes declared that a bot would now be automatically removing X links from the subreddit.

According to The Times, other users hysterically demanded more comprehensive Reddit censorship of X links, falsely accusing Musk of sympathizing with Nazism.

“Reddit moderators and members are not banning ideas, content, or discussions originating from Twitter. Instead, they are simply opting to no longer drive traffic and ad revenue to the platform,” subreddit moderator Jarrod Maynard claimed.

Despite Maybard’s dismissive comments, there were Reddit users who cautioned against censorship and argued in favor of free speech, The Times explained.

Musk himself responded to the accusations by reposting a characterization of the Nazi accusations as a “‘dirty tricks campaign.’” Musk added, “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”

Reddit has so far refused to take a company-wide action, with a Reddit spokesperson affirming that it has a “longstanding commitment to freedom of speech and freedom of association.”
