In an exclusive interview on Sinclair Broadcasting’s The National News Desk, Media Research Center (MRC) President David Bozell revealed a new study alleging that Apple News and Google News actively shielded progressive Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed from critical press coverage.

Speaking with reporter Geoff Harris, Bozell detailed what MRC describes as a total coverage blockade on negative headlines on Apple News and Google News between November 2025 and July 2026. The study monitored top morning news feeds and found that 104 negatively framed stories from right-leaning outlets—along with 16 from left-leaning publications—failed to land prominent placement on the platforms.
The suppressed reporting involved notable campaign controversies, including El-Sayed’s decision to campaign alongside radical-left streamer Hasan Piker. Bozell pointed out on Sinclair that this algorithm shift took hold right as El-Sayed started climbing in the primary polls against Rep. Haley Stevens.

When Harris noted that some listed articles technically appear on the platforms, Bozell clarified the study's central focus: curation over outright deletion. Apple and Google aren't erasing these stories completely; rather, Bozell told Sinclair, they are cherry-picking mainstream sources and refusing to feature critical reporting on their most visible feeds.
