The Chairman of a massive Big Tech hearing slammed the CEO of Twitter for enabling dictators’ calls for violence and Chinese COVID-19 propaganda while censoring President Donald Trump.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation October 28. The “Does Section 230’s Sweeping Immunity Enable Big Tech Bad Behavior?” hearing featured Big Tech leaders getting raked over the coals by Chairman and Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS). “Mr. Dorsey, how does a claim by Chinese communists that the U.S. military is to blame for COVID remain up for two months without a fact-check and the president’s tweet about security of mail-in ballots gets labelled instantly?”

Wicker scorched Dorsey for the fact that Twitter “allows foreign dictators to post propaganda typically without restriction, yet you routinely restrict the president of the United States.” Wicker then cited two examples. The first was Twitter allowing a Chinese official to scapegoat the U.S. military for spreading the virus to Wuhan, China.

He contrasted how it was allegedly two months before that Chinese government official’s tweet was flagged. On the other hand, he recalled how Trump’s May tweet voicing his concerns about mail-in ballots was immediately faced with an “imposed fact-check label on that tweet.”

Wicker also addressed how Twitter allowed tweets by the dictator Ayatollah Khamenei of Iran to “glorify violence.” One tweet described Israel as a “cancerous growth” and that the only remedy to its regime is “firm, armed resistance.”

Upon review, the tweets cited here still have “likes.”

By contrast, Twitter yesterday decided to kneecap Trump’s tweet, not even allowing it to be “liked” as a show of support by his followers. In short, Twitter allowed users to endorse calls for violence against Israel, but not for endorsing the president’s skepticism towards mail-in voting.

This hearing was launched shortly after recent censorship of a New York Post article across multiple Big Tech platforms. In a shocking revelation released by the Post on Oct. 14, purported emails from Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son Hunter reportedly exposed the alleged scandalous dealings of both father and son in the Russia-bordering state of Ukraine.

Facebook responded by reducing the story’s circulation on its platform, crippling its ability to spread. Twitter responded by disabling the link to the story, claiming: “Warning: this link may be unsafe.” Twitter then censored the Post, the White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, OANN’s Jack Posobiec, the Trump campaign, James Woods, Dana Loesch, NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck, and even the House Judiciary, a part of the government, for sharing this story.
