Apple is now calling on artificial intelligence (AI) development to slow down due to unresolved “issues.” But here’s the catch: Apple has used AI for years.

Apple Inc. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook called on AI development to be “thoughtful” because of a number of unsorted “issues” in an earnings call on Thursday. Cook, however, in yet another demonstration of Big Tech hypocrisy, admitted that his leftist company uses AI for a handful of its products. Even worse, the tech chief admitted that his communist Chinese government-tied company will proceed with using AI despite its threats to humanity. In 2018, Apple tapped Google’s chief of search and artificial intelligence John Giannandrea, marking what The New York Times called “a major coup in its bid to catch up to the artificial intelligence technology of its rivals.”

Cook claimed AI development should proceed with caution but also called it interesting.

“I do think it’s very important to be deliberate and thoughtful on how you approach these things, and there’s a number of issues that need to be sorted as it’s being talked about in a number of different places,” Cook claimed. “But the potential is certainly very interesting, and we’ve obviously made enormous progress integrating AI and machine learning throughout our ecosystem. And we’ve weaved it into products and features for many years.”

One of the Apple Watch features fueled by artificial intelligence is fall detection, a technique implemented in 2018 that tracks movements and detects whether the user has fallen or got in a crash. The AI-oriented feature came to life after Apple gathered data from individuals using its smartwatch, according to a Popular Science report in October 2018.

Cook’s hypocritical rules for thee, but not for me comments come days after several tech leaders have issued dire warnings about the dangers of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, the so-called “Godfather of AI,” quit Google earlier this month, citing what he considered dire implications of artificial intelligence and its rapid growth.

“‘The idea that this stuff could actually get smarter than people — a few people believed that,’” Hinton told The Times on May 1. “‘But most people thought it was way off. And I thought it was way off. I thought it was 30 to 50 years or even longer away. Obviously, I no longer think that.’”

Hinton warned that his own technology — which arguably helped pave the way for chatbots like Google’s Bard and OpenAI’s ChatGPT— could pose a danger to humanity.

But Cook is not the only Big Tech liberal to showcase explicit hypocrisy in the ongoing debate about the growth of the AI industry.

Anti-free speech Google CEO Sundar Pichai called in April for the development of artificial intelligence to slow down, citing concerns about “race conditions” that could lead to “potential pitfalls and downsides.” Pichai, much like Cook, hypocritically accelerated the development of its own AI chatbot, Bard, a few days after his virtue-signaling concerns.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact the U.S. Commerce Department and demand that Big Tech developers of artificial intelligence technologies mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called hate speech and equal footing for conservatives. The official comment period on AI Accountability Policy Request for Comment ends 06/12/2023, but this is just the beginning of our fight to preserve American freedom
