A Facebook group belonging to a historical reenactment society disabled second time for same reason: The Wimborne Militia Facebook page was once again misidentified as a real militia group by Facebook. The platform had previously disabled the organization's page in December 2020, later admitting it was a mistake and reinstating the page. According to a report in the Daily Mail, Chris Brown, a spokesman for the group, said he thought the mishap would prevent any similar future problems. He clearly he was mistaken. When attempting to access the page, administrators were surprised by a note that their page had been disabled, and that it was "irreversible," according to the Daily Mail. The article continued, saying that Brown said he believed there was an algorithm picking out the word "militia," but added that it was bizarre that the group's "normal society page" still remained active on the platform. The Daily Mail reported that a spokesperson for Facebook provided a statement: "Some of the access on a few of these accounts were restricted in error and have now been restored. We’re very sorry for any upset this has caused and we’ve taken extra steps to prevent this happening again."
