Twitter community adds a context note to The White House tweet: The White House posted a tweet claiming that “Inflation-adjusted income is up 3.5% since @POTUS took office and low-wage workers have seen the largest wage gains over the last year – helping power our economy. Bidenomics is growing the economy from the middle out and the bottom up.” Twitter added a Community Note warning label to the post with a header that reads: “The federal government’s data does not support this growth claim." The note continues, " Inflation-adjusted average hourly earnings were $11.41 per hour in January 2021 when Biden took office... and in its latest release (May 2023) is $11.03. This is a decline of 3.3%.” The added context additionally includes links to information from Archive.org and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
