Twitter locks Todd Starnes Twitter account after encouragement from Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA): Conservative radio host Todd Starnes tweeted "[r]emember when Biden failed to vet any of the Afghan 'refugees'? #synagogue #colleyville," according to a screenshot he sent to CensorTrack. Starnes's tweet referenced the concurrent Colleyville, TX synagogue hostage situation that the FBI labeled "a terrorism-related matter, in which the Jewish community was targeted," the Daily Wire reported. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) quote tweeted Starnes's tweet, encouraging Twitter to censor him saying, "How can @twitter allow this hate speech? This *verified* guy is falsely blaming Afghans for the #ColleyvilleSynagogue standoff. The suspect WAS NOT Afghan. This false tweet will put targets on my Afghan constituents' backs," according to screenshots. Starnes told CensorTrack that Twitter claimed he "violated their rules regarding hate speech." Screenshots show that the platform locked his account, then placed it in read-only mode, which prevented him from tweeting, retweeting or liking another user's content. Twitter had not responded to Free Speech America's request for comment at the time of publishing.
