Facebook censors The Tennessee Conservative: According to The Tennessee Conservative, the Conservative published an article about funding additional voting machines in Williamson County. The Conservative then posted the article on its Facebook account. Facebook prevented the post from being shared, however, claiming it went “against our Community Standards on hate speech.” Per screenshots, Facebook prohibits “describing people as inferior” and “using harmful stereotypes,” and counts “claims about coronavirus” as hate speech, too. The article by the Conservative contains no such content. Yet screenshots also show that Facebook flagged the Conservative’s page as “at risk,” without any further explanation of what specific content violated its policies. At the time of publishing, the censored post appears to be restored.
