Badly burned military veteran who suffered injuries during an IED explosion in Afghanistan has image of him saluting the flag in uniform flagged by Twitter as sensitive content and hidden behind interstitial: Retired U.S. Army Captain Sam Brown, whose vehicle was struck by an IED blast that severely wounded him, is now running for U.S. Senate in Nevada. An image of Brown saluting the flag in uniform, contained within a patriotic 4th of July tweet that Brown posted, was flagged as "sensitive content" by Twitter and hidden behind an interstitial that must be clicked through by some users to view the image. "On July 4, 1776, America was born. On July 4, 2021, we're still the best country on this planet," read the text of Brown's tweet accompanying the image of him. That part of the tweet was not hidden behind a sensitive content filter, only the image, which also had a text overlay saying "Freedom isn't free." "Hey @Twitter, I didn’t realize my face was 'sensitive content,'" tweeted Brown after realizing his tweet had been flagged by Twitter. "Ironic considering I only have 3 tweets & just filed to run for U.S. Senate only hours ago. Was it my scars or the fact that I salute the flag? Regardless, neither are going away—and neither am I."
