Facebook fact-checks post comparing Johnny Depp and Ghislaine Maxwell trials: Facebook fact-checked an image for missing context. The post compared the Johnny Depp trial to the Ghislaine Maxwell trial. It showed two individuals sitting on a bench. A light post labeled "transparency" shined a light that bent onto the person labeled "Johnny Depp trial." The light bypassed the person representing the Ghislaine Maxwell trial. Facebook labeled the image as missing context. The notice claimed that "Independent fact-checkers say this information is missing context and could mislead people." Facebook linked to a fact check article. Fact-checked posts lose exposure on Facebook feeds as they are negatively affected by the platform's algorithm. According to Facebook, users fail to click through a fact-check interstitial to see the post 95% of the time.
