Kickstarter suspends the fundraising campaign for The Private American comic: Former Marvel comics author Mike Baron launched his own comic series about a vigilante border patrol agent. He started a campaign with producer Chris Braly on Kickstarter to raise funds for his comic. According to screenshots from FIRE, (Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression) Kickstarter reviewed and approved the campaign. However, per the screenshots from FIRE, Kickstarter warned The Private American that its campaign was under review. Shortly afterwards, Kickstarter suspended the campaign. FIRE’s screenshots of an email response to Chris show that Kickstarter said the campaign “is not aligned with community standards.” Specifically, Kickstarter cited section 12 of their guidelines, which prohibits campaigns promoting “discrimination, terrorism, or intolerance of any kind relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity, or serious disabilities or diseases.” Kickstarter kept the suspension in place, and The Private American moved to the platform, Indiegogo.
