Prashant Bhushan

Twitter deletes tweet linking to study on mask effectiveness from Indian attorney with over 2.1 million followers: Prashant Bhushan is an Advocate-on-Record for the Supreme Court of India, meaning he is one of only a few people allowed by Indian law to plead for, or against, litigants before the country’s highest court. Bhushan tweeted out a link to a study called “Facemasks in the COVID-19 era: A health hypothesis,” authored by Dr. Baruch Vainshelboim of the Cardiology Division at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System located within the Department of Medicine at Stanford University. The study had previously been published in the peer-reviewed journal Medical Hypotheses in November 2020, and re-published by Science Direct in January 2021, according to The COVID Blog, but Twitter still deleted Bhushan's post linking to it. "Read this detailed study on masks: 'The data suggest that facemasks are ineffective to block transmission of viral & infectious disease such as COVID-19," read Bhushan's text accompanying the study's link. "Wearing facemasks has been demonstrated to have substantial adverse physiological& psychological effects."
