Instagram censors New York Post story about Fauci's net worth with irrelevant fact-check: The New York Post added an Instagram post regarding an article they published headlined: "Dr. Fauci and wife's wealth 'skyrocketed' by $5 million during pandemic: analysis." The newspaper added context to the Instagram post, writing "Dr. #Fauci and his wife's net worth grew by $5 million during the COVID-19 pandemic as thousands of US residents struggled financially, according to a government spending watchdog group." Instagram initially placed a fact-check interstitial over the post, requiring user to click through it in order to view the post. The fact-check labeled the post "False Information," but it linked to a fact-check article indicating that Dr. Fauci is not married to Ghislaine Maxwell's sister, an apparent reference to the appearance of Fauci's wife in the photo that accompanied the post. However, the post nor the article claimed that his wife was related to Maxwell or appeared to be. According to Facebook, also owned by Meta as Instagram is, users fail to click through fact-check interstitials 95% of the time.
