YouTube removes San Diego news channel's interview with medical doctor after he suggests Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine as effective COVID-19 treatments: Local San Diego channel KUSI News interviewed Dr. Jeff Barke, a primary care physician who claims to have treated "hundreds of COVID patients." The news channel brought him on to discuss California's recent reinstatement of an indoor mask mandate. In the interview, Barke called masks "not only not effective but [..] harmful" and argued that patients need to be informed of the risks of the COVID-19 vaccines. He also pointed to alternative treatment options, saying "[w]e know that Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine can have a tremendous effect if we can get to people early on when they first get COVID." YouTube removed the video because it violated the platform's Community Guidelines on medical misinformation, KUSI News reported. YouTube's policy explicitly prohibits content recommending Ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine as an “effective treatment[]” or “prevention” measure for COVID-19. It also forbids content that “contradicts local health authorities’ or the World Health Organization’s (WHO) medical information about COVID-19.”
