Jordan Schachtel

Twitter censors journalist for daring to question COVID-19 "new variants" talking points story: Investigative journalist Jordan Schachtel has been covering the COVID-19 pandemic in depth from the start. When he saw an article by a general assignment reporter spouting what he knew to be nonsense from his research, he couldn't refrain from commenting about it. The story was in the New York Post, and covered "What to know about all of the COVID-19 variants," and began with the statement that set Schachtel off: "The world is on edge over the emergence of three new strains of COVID-19, each of which shows signs of being more dangerous and damaging during an already devastating pandemic." As Schachtel's research has shown that "there is no actual evidence that any of these new variants are more or less transmissible or deadly," he decided to quote tweet the article and make his own statement on the accuracy of it. His tweet read: “It’s all bullshit to keep you fearful, compliant, and locked down. There, saved you a click.” According to Schachtel, he received notice from Twitter within about an hour that he must either comply with the approved narrative by removing his tweet, or his account would remain locked until he did. An appeal resulted in a near-immediate rejection, after which he chose to delete the tweet. Twitter locked his account for an additional 12 hours as punishment.
