Twitter locks user out of account: According to a screenshot, a user tweeted, “Trannies are violent, extremely dangerous people, steer clear of them at all costs,” and Twitter locked the user’s account. Twitter claimed the user was “violating our rules against hateful conduct.” Twitter further added, “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.” However, Twitter did not explain what specifically about the user’s tweet was in violation of its policy. The user did not promote violence or harassment against anyone. At the time of writing, the user’s account is restored.
