Jennifer Bridges

GoFundMe removed campaign fundraising for legal costs in fighting vaccine mandates because it allegedly promoted misinformation: Insider reported that Jennifer Bridges was fired from her job as a registered nurse at the Houston Methodist Hospital after refusing a COVID-19 vaccine. Bridges started a GoFundMe campaign in April 2021 in order to fund the legal costs involved in fighting the hospital's vaccine mandate. Insider claimed that her campaign's page was updated in September when it included the statement: "No one should ever be forced to inject something into their body that is not safe against their will." GoFundMe told Insider why it removed the campaign page: "'When our team initially reviewed the fundraiser, it was within our terms of service as the funds were for legal fees to fight vaccine mandates,' Heidi Hagberg, a spokesperson for GoFundMe, said in a statement to Insider. 'The fundraiser has since been updated to include misinformation which violates our terms of service.'" GoFundMe has no provision on COVID-19 or misinformation in its Terms of Service. However it does forbid "user Content or Fundraisers that are fraudulent, misleading, inaccurate, dishonest, or impossible." Despite this, the fundraising site told Insider that it has removed "hundreds" of fundraisers that included "misinformation related to vaccines."
