GoFundMe removes the Jones’ family campaign: According to an article by Emily Post News, Jason Jones, the Texas Sheriff Deputy, was hospitalized for COVID-19. His wife, Erin, began a legal battle to get him Ivermectin. A family friend, Christina, started a GoFundMe campaign to cover the Jones family’s medical and legal fees, and the campaign raised about thirty-six thousand dollars. Later, Erin posted an online update about her efforts obtain Ivermectin, in which she said, “Ivermectin, perfectly legal in many countries, including the United States, and an increasingly popular alternative treatment, is rejected by the medical establishment in the U.S, even though the National Institute of Health lists it as an acceptable treatment for Covid 19.”GoFundMe removed the campaign. In an email to Christina, GoFundMe said the reason for removal was “prohibited conduct.” GoFundMe gave no further explanation and no details of what specific content actually violated its policies. When Post News reached out to GoFundMe, a representative replied: “I can confirm that a fundraiser titled “Jason Jones and Family” was reviewed and found to be in violation of GoFundMe’s terms of service; $36,453 was raised prior to the fundraiser’s removal, and all funds are available to be released to the Jones family.” GoFundMe did not answer any of the other detailed questions about why the campaign was removed.
