Twitter restricted James Lindsay's account after he called out a user who said "no-one has made" an "airtight case for the anti-pedophilia side": A user tweeted that "'Protecting the children' was invoked by anti-gay advocates too. There well may be an airtight case for the anti-pedophilia side, but no-one has made it yet, because they don't have to when they can rely on a reflexive taboo reaction." Best-selling author and political commentator James Lindsay responded with the words "Ok groomer." Twitter required Lindsay to delete the tweet to regain access to his account, and the platform restricted his account for 12 hours, according to screenshots tweeted by Jenna Ellis and corroborated by one of Lindsay's tweets after his restriction was over. The screenshots show that Twitter removed Lindsay's content for "violating [its] rules against hateful conduct." The platform explained that users "may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease." It is unclear exactly how Lindsay's tweet broke the policy.
