YouTube reportedly bans candidate running for governor of Michigan: Garrett Soldano is running to be the Republican candidate for governor of Michigan against current Democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer. The election is in 2022. Soldano is fed up with Whitmer's COVID-19 restrictions, and got in trouble with Facebook over his reaction to them last year. Now, he has reportedly been permanently banned from YouTube over his views on Whitmer's policies as well. His campaign reported that he had accumulated over 9,000 subscribers to his channel before YouTube sent him an email indicating that due to "severe or repeated violations" of YouTube's terms, his account was being permanently banned. According to The Detroit News, YouTube did not specify which specific policies had been violated, or which videos in particular were problematic. However, his videos included his views on the pandemic restrictions, which did not align with the government's narrative.
