YouTube removed an episode of the Erick Erickson Show two and a half years after he posted the video: Erick Erickson tweeted on October 28, 2022 that YouTube removed a video he posted in April of 2020. In the show Erickson discussed "the concerns about Georgia opening up a tine [sic] portion of the economy with strict guidelines, the sensationalized media complex need a fearful public, the hydroxycholoroquine study and the power hungry Michigan governor," according to the video's description. YouTube's medical misinformation policy forbids claims that suggest hydroxychloroquine is a safe or effective treatment for COVID-19. "We wanted to let you know our team reviewed your content, and we think it violates our medical misinformation policy," read the screenshot he tweeted. "We know you may not have realized this was a violation of our policies, so we're not applying a strike to your channel." YouTube removed the video but later restored it to the platform. When MRC Free Speech America asked about the sudden censorship and subsequent reversal, YouTube claimed that "[u]pon review, we determined that the video contained sufficient educational, documentary, scientific or artistic (EDSA) context and as a result it was reinstated."
