X community adds a context note to an End Wokeness post: Popular X (formerly Twitter) account known as End Wokeness posted "EXCLUSIVE: The Department Of Veterans Affairs just BANNED the V-J Day kiss photo from all department facilities. 'To promote a culture of inclusivity and awareness… your cooperation is vital.'" The post included an image of the iconic V-J Day kissing photo along with the original memo from the Department of Veterans Affairs. According to End Wokeness, it first broke this story. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. This memorandum is authentic, but due to backlash the ban has been overruled by Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough. militarytimes.com/veterans/2024/… twitter.com/SecVetAffairs/…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
