X community adds a context note to DC Draino's post: An X (formerly Twitter) user known as DC Draino posted "The American Red Cross is now asking blood donors if they ever received the Covid vaccine If you answer Yes, they want you to call ahead to see if you’re still eligible I thought the vax was 'safe and effective'? What info are they hiding from us?" The post included a screenshot of the American Red Cross RapidPass question 79 that asks "Have you EVER had a Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine," and instructs users to call the Red Cross before coming in to donate if they answered yes to this question. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. 1. Requirement to defer blood donations from unknown COVID-19 vaccines date to July 2021. 2. All US approved COVID-19 vaccines do not require any delay in blood donations. 3. Delay only required for live attenuated COVID-19 vaccine, and none have been approved. techarp.com/science/red-cr… redcross.org/about-us/news-… redcross.org/about-us/news-…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
