YouTube restricted Steven Crowder's CrowderBits channel when it reported on Australia's COVID-19 lockdown measures: Blaze Media podcast host, Steven Crowder posted a notice he received from YouTube saying that the platform placed an age restriction on a video he posted three weeks earlier. Crowder reported on Australia's extreme COVID-19 measures and included disturbing video footage that included no weaponry or bloodshed and posted the clip to his CrowderBits channel. YouTube placed an age restriction on the video and claimed "We have reviewed your content and determined that it may not be suitable for viewers under the age of 18, per our Community Gudelines," according to Crowder's screenshot. The platform later explained the impact of the restriction saying, "[w]e age-restrict content when we don't think it's suitable for younger audiences. This means it will not be visible to users who are logged out, are under 18 years of age or have restricted mode enabled." Users who do not fall into any of the listed categories are met with a discretionary warning interstitial that they must click through to watch the video.
