CrowderBits

YouTube downgraded conservative comedian's channel for no explicit reason: Political commentator and comedian Steven Crowder posted a reaction to a letter from YouTube announcing that his channel CrowderBits had been de-verified by the video sharing platform. According to a screenshot of the letter shared by Crowder, YouTube said, "To help keep our community safe, we limit some of our more powerful features to channels who have built and maintained a positive channel history or who have provided verification." YouTube then claimed that Crowder's channel did not have "sufficient channel history." The letter also suggested that CrowderBits may have been de-verified for failing to follow YouTube's Community Guidelines but did not provide any specific infringements of YouTube's terms. YouTube stated that because of this de-verification, CrowderBits would be locked out of YouTube's more advanced channel features such as higher daily limits for streams and video uploads, the ability to embed livestreams, pin comments and add external links to video descriptions.
