Catherine Salgado

Facebook deletes post linking to Substack article, calls it "spam": MRC Contributor Catherine Salgado attempted to share an article from her Substack account on Facebook. The article was titled "Election-Stealing Google Gets Involved In Registering Voters." This post discussing Google's efforts to register voters and the implications of this effort was deleted by Facebook when Salgado shared a link to it on her Facebook page. The notice that Salgado received claimed that "[i]t looks like you tried to get likes, follows, shares or video views in a misleading way" and said the post violated Facebook’s "Community Standards on spam." Additionally, she was told that "Repeatedly breaking our rules can cause more account restrictions." Many of Salgado's posts of articles she has written have been removed by Facebook with the same "spam" excuse, and it is not clear why.
